Bulk-billed children's dental care in Bacchus Marsh.
If your child is eligible for Medicare's Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS), their basic dental care — check-ups, cleans, X-rays, fillings and more — can be covered up to $1,158 over two calendar years, or $1,132 if their two-year period began in 2025. We check eligibility at the first visit and claim directly through Medicare where possible, so covered services usually have nothing to pay on the day.
Eligibility and the benefit amount are set by the Australian Government. Anything outside the scheme is quoted clearly before we start.
Early check-ups keep dental care simple.
When children see the dentist regularly, check-ups stay short and ordinary. Early signs of decay or crowding are noticed while they're small, and your child gets used to the chair long before they need anything more.
For eligible families, the CDBS means much of that everyday care is covered. Often the only thing left to organise is the time.
This is part of our children’s dentistry in Bacchus Marsh. If your child hasn’t been before, the first visit page explains how we begin.
When did a check-up last feel calm — for your child, and for you?
If the honest answer is “not for a while,” these visits are built to change that. No lectures and no rush — just a friendly appointment that makes the next one easier.
What the CDBS covers.
The Child Dental Benefits Schedule is an Australian Government program for eligible children aged 0 to 17. It covers basic dental services, including these.
01Check-ups
Examinations to see how teeth, gums and jaws are developing.
02Cleans & fluoride
Professional cleaning, plus fluoride where it suits your child.
03X-rays
Taken only when there's a clinical reason to see what the mirror can't.
04Fillings
Treatment for cavities while they're still small.
05Extractions
When a tooth needs to come out, done calmly and carefully.
06Sealants, root canals & more
Fissure sealing, root canal treatment and other basic services can also be covered — we'll confirm what applies.
The CDBS doesn't cover orthodontic or cosmetic dental work, so orthodontics such as braces, Invisalign or Myobrace sit outside it. If your child needs something the scheme doesn't cover, we'll explain the options and costs first. You can read the full program detail at Services Australia.
Is your child eligible?
Eligibility is means-tested and depends on your family's circumstances — but you don't have to work it out alone.
Who qualifies
- Aged 0–17 for at least one day of the calendar year.
- Eligible for Medicare.
- The family receives a qualifying government payment for at least part of the year — most commonly Family Tax Benefit Part A.
How to check
- Sign in to your Medicare online account through myGov, or use the Express Plus Medicare app.
- You'll see whether your child is eligible and how much benefit is left.
- Rather not? Tell us when you book and we'll check it for you.
Your child's first visit, step by step.
Knowing what's coming takes a lot of the worry out of it — for them, and for you. Here's how a first bulk-billed appointment usually goes.
Before you come in
Keep the chat at home short and light — “we're going to count your teeth” works better than a big build-up. Bring your child's Medicare card, and a favourite toy if it helps.
When you arrive
Reception will ask you to sign a short Medicare consent form — a standard part of bulk-billing under the CDBS — and explain it. Then your child has a few minutes to settle in before we say hello.
In the chair
We keep it friendly and unhurried — a look around, a count of the teeth, a clean if they're comfortable, and plenty of explaining as we go. It usually takes about 30 to 45 minutes.
Before you leave
We tell you how everything looks and when to come back. If anything needs attention, we'll talk it through with you — including whether it's covered — before doing anything.
If you've been meaning to book for a while.
It's easy to let slide — everyone's busy, and nothing feels urgent until it does. But think about next year's check-up: the same quiet worry in the waiting room, or a child who already knows the routine and barely thinks twice? Early visits are what make the later ones easy.
This is for you if…
Your child is due (or overdue) for a check-up, you'd rather start gently than wait for a problem, and you'd like to know whether Medicare will cover it. First visits are always welcome.
It's probably not for you if…
You're after braces, Invisalign, Myobrace or cosmetic work — those sit outside the CDBS. That's fine; call us and we'll point you to the right service instead.
Covered by Medicare, claimed directly by us.
per eligible child over two calendar years, or $1,132 if their two-year period began in 2025.
That's the CDBS benefit cap for basic dental care. We claim it directly through Medicare where possible, so for covered services eligible families usually have nothing to pay at the visit. If a treatment falls outside the scheme, or the benefit has been used up, we'll explain any cost before we begin. No surprises.
These amounts are from Services Australia's CDBS page, last updated 15 April 2026. The Australian Government sets the cap and indexes it each year on 1 January, and what's left depends on your child's eligibility and remaining balance. We'll confirm the current amount for you.
