What laser dentistry feels like in the chair
Most people who put off the dentist can name the reason: the whine of the drill, the needle, the wait. A laser won't remove every one of those, but for some treatments it changes the visit a great deal, and you can have it here in Bacchus Marsh rather than travelling into Melbourne.
Laser dentistry uses focused light energy in place of some drilling and cutting. On a tooth, an Er:YAG laser removes decay in small, controlled steps. Laser treatments at Magical Smiles Bacchus Marsh
Laser-assisted periodontal therapy (LAPT) for gum disease, used alongside a deep clean. The laser helps reduce bacteria in gum pockets as part of a gum care plan built around your pocket measurements.
TwinLight® uses two laser wavelengths in sequence: Er:YAG for biofilm and calculus, Nd:YAG for the deeper pocket tissue. Considered when gum disease has formed deeper pockets.
Er:YAG laser removal of decay for suitable cavities, often without the drill and sometimes without an injection. A calmer option for anxious adults and children. Suitability is checked first.
Traditional root canal techniques with laser assistance at specific stages, to help reduce bacteria and support disinfection. Your dentist explains the steps, visits and fees before you start.
NightLase® is a laser treatment for snoring with no surgery and no injections. The usual plan is three short in-chair sessions, usually three to four weeks apart. Results vary, so we assess suitability first. Consultation required.
In-chair TouchWhite® laser whitening after a check of your teeth and gums. We talk through realistic shade expectations before you start. The budget calculator's indicative figure is $650 (as at September 2026). Not suitable for everyone, and results vary.
Laser gum depigmentation for dark or patchy gum colour, using an Er:YAG laser and usually no scalpel. We check your gums first. Consultation required, and results vary from person to person.
Er:YAG laser recontouring for a gummy smile or uneven gum line, plus crown lengthening before a crown or filling. Often little bleeding and no stitches. Consultation required.
Nd:YAG laser treatment for sensitive teeth, aimed at the exposed dentine that reacts to cold. No needle and no drilling. We look for the cause of the sensitivity first, and results vary.
Laser release of a tight tongue or lip tie (frenectomy), with an assessment first and a review afterwards. The laser seals as it works, so there is often little bleeding and few or no stitches.
Laser care for inflamed gum and bone around a dental implant. Er:YAG cleans the implant surface and Nd:YAG helps disinfect the tissue around it. The sooner it is checked, the more options you have.
Er:YAG laser energy softens the cement under a crown, bridge or veneer so it can often be lifted off with less force, helping protect the tooth underneath.
Laser care close to home, explained properly
